Columbia Metro Rotary Club
Club Goals
2008-2009
GOALS & OBJECTIVES:
- To once again, qualify for the Presidential Citation. We’ve never missed.
- Establish a realistic budget – and follow it.
- Plan and build on our initially successful largest fundraiser – Trivia Night. Encourage help from the other clubs as needed.
- To re-do our Committee structure; requires by-law change.
- Encourage the work of our Committees; have Committee-only chair/co-chair meetings to encourage growth, understanding and commitment.
- Do everything possible to make each weekly meeting and each monthly board meeting interesting, fun and interactive.
- Be serious about the good work we do, but not take ourselves too seriously.
- To promote the good work of the Newsletter Committee editors to all members by putting each new issue on tables prior to weekly meetings.
- To promote the good work of the Web site and those who are in charge of keeping it moving forward smoothly.
- To combine work of newsletter and public relations into one Committee.
- As new members join, put them through immediate process of orientation, assigning mentors, create a how-to-get-involved sheet in new member packets, encourage them to get involved and to ask questions.
- Ramp up publicity for Metro, the other five clubs and share what we do with others in the District, or offer to help, as needed. Object is to create greater coverage for the good work of Rotary.
- To establish, build and maintain an accurate and on-going communication trail.
- Once per quarter we will hold a meeting with no speaker. Following a short business meeting we will network at each of our tables – getting to know each other better and encourage communication.
- After hours socials used to be a mainstay with this club; I am encouraging more be held (at least one per month).
- Work on discovering the what and why that makes people leave the club and for the same reasons, makes a certain number of us get immediately involved and active. From what is discovered, help to make us a better club with even greater member retention.
- Re-visit with those who have resigned from the club but remain in the Columbia area.
- Each Rotary Club has its own personality; we have a certain charm, and should exploit it as we build members and let the ‘outside’ world know what we’re about.
- Plan and have in place a smooth transfer of executive power from myself to Bill Costello no later than mid-May 2009.
- Work closely with my Executive Committee (Bill Costello, Cindy Whaley, Jim Sharrock, Stuart Scroggs).
- Learn to adapt with our changing world.
- To encourage truth, being fair, good will, friendship and those things that are beneficial to all.
