2005-2006

GOALS:

  • To complete activities by April 1, 2006 that will qualify Metro for the Presidential Citation.
  • To encourage and actualize a larger percentage of membership participation in various club activities.
  • To educate newer members in the many aspects of Rotary and the opportunities to get involved in those areas which may be of interest to them.
  • Other goals as listed below in each major classification area.

FAMILY OF ROTARY

  • The Family of Rotary Committee will assist with club projects and activities in support of club members and non-Rotarian members of the extended Rotary family (Renee Hoagenson).
  • The Family of Rotary Committee will recognize club members’ birthdays, club anniversaries, member community recognition and major events in members’ lives (Renee Hoagenson).
  • The New Member Orientation Committee will conduct formal orientation and training for new members as needed but at least twice during the year (Rob Christenson and other past presidents as needed).
  • The Club President will appoint all members to a committee or service project so that everyone can become actively involved in the club – this includes all new members as they join our club (Sharon Mitchell).
  • The Newsletter Committee will publish a newsletter after each regularly scheduled meeting (Marcia Machens/Darin Fugit).

YOUR CLUB

  • The Membership/Classification Committee will work together to streamline the membership process – assigning a classification title before the new member starts through the membership process (i.e. out to membership committee members, feedback to presidency and vote by board; publishing in newsletter for 2 weeks; arrange induction (Tonya Wolfe/Jean Leonatti).
  • The Membership/Classification Committee will achieve a net “one” new member over the total number of members as of July 1, 2005 (Tonya Wolfe/Jean Leonatti.
  • The Fellowship Committee will develop and implement a variety of activities that encourage participation in Metro functions and meetings (Joy Block/Joy Rushing).
  • The Club President will ask incoming club officers and members to attend the presidents-elect training/secretary-elects training seminar, the district assembly, a district Rotary Foundation seminar, and the district conference as appropriate (Sharon Mitchell).
  • The Club Historian will continue to create and maintain a current club history for this 2005-2006 Rotary year (Win Burggraff).
  • The Program Committee will strive to ensure weekly programs that are informative, entertaining and educational (Jim Sharrock).
  • The Fundraising Committee will organize activity or activities with support from the Public Relations Committee and the Fellowship Committee and others to support the efforts of the club which may include a new fundraising activity and a city-wide club barbeque event (Les Borgmeyer/co-chair to be determined).
  • The Special Projects Committee will maintain a local trail (Chris Stormer).

YOUR VOCATION

  • The Vocational Service Committee will participate in a career counseling and development project for young people in the community (Sarah Read and Scott Christianson).
  • The Vocational Service Committee will recognize a community member who is demonstrating outstanding professional achievements while maintaining high ethical standards (Sarah Read and Scott Christianson).
  • The New Member Orientation Committee will present all new club members with a copy of Declaration of Rotarians in Business and Professions (Rob Christensen).
  • The Vocational Service Committee will implement activities to encourage members to join and serve on committees of professional or trade associations or develop a campaign to promote pride in vocational or professional skills in the work place (Sarah Read and Scott Christianson).

YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE AND PUBLIC IMAGE

  • The Community Service Committee will sponsor or participate in an ongoing poverty alleviation project to feed the hungry in our community and provide those in poverty with holiday presents (Sue Bliss/Les Gelband).
  • The Community Service Committee will decide on, organize and involve members in a community project coordinating that project with the designated organization. (Sue Bliss/Les Gelband)
  • The Community Service Committee may use the community service monies to assist various non-profit agencies in the mid-Missouri area (Sue Bliss/Les Gelband).
  • The Public Relations Committee will publicize two significant club events, Rotary’s role in Global Polio Eradication initiative and other international projects (Norm Benedict).

OUR WORLD

  • The Foundation Committee will continue club participation in an International PolioPlus project (Susan Hart).
  • The Foundation Committee will identify a qualified candidate to compete at the district level for a Rotary World Peace Scholarship or contribute to the Annual Programs Fund in support of the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution (Susan Hart).
  • The Foundation Committee will continue to support the Permanent Fund initiative to ensure the long-term future of The Rotary Foundation by securing new bequest commitments (Susan Hart).
  • The International Youth Committee will encourage and organize club participation in the Group Study Exchange (GSE) or a Rotary Friendship Exchange (Lori Pewitt).
  • The International Youth Committee will work with club members (to house and care for a youth exchange student) and with the Distsrict Youth Exchange Committee to secure an international student for our club for the school year 2006-2007. (Lori Pewitt)
  • The President will work on identifying and begin the organization process for an international project to be carried out by our club in connection with a club in another country (Sharon Mitchell).
